Hackers Successfully Attack EA, Blizzard And Riot

A rogue hacker group by the name DERP launched DDOS attacks against a multitude of major gaming servers for League of Legends, Battle.net, EA and more this evening. The motive for the attacks apparently were to disrupt a user by the name Phantoml0rd who streams titles from these publishers, Riot (League of Legends), Blizzard (Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft), and Electronic Arts (Battlefield and others). It seems quite extreme that hackers would target the titles of the publisher rather than just the user directly, not that we condone any sort of attacks. Phantomlord also was “swatted” we presume by the DERP group who called authorities to his home to investigate “a hostage situation” in which an automatic weapon was pointed at him while in handcuffs.
