Xbox One Will Now Support Game Trials

As the title states, Xbox One will now support full title game trials like its Xbox 360 sibling enabling users to experience full retail titles for a limited amount of time. With gamers looking for more options in obtaining new games, digital distribution has become a great way to avoid the gas, parking, and headaches associated with visiting the mall; assuming you have a relatively decent internet connection. In a conversation with Eurogamer Microsoft’s ID@Xbox boss Chris Charla said: “When Xbox One launched you could do game demos and you could do games. But we didn’t have the functionality that was on Xbox 360 – that ‘trial’ experience where you could download a demo and then convert it [to a full version],”.

“But now we do. In the same way that we update the Xbox One OS every month, they update the development system every month – or regularly, anyway. So that’s something that we recently turned on. I don’t think we’ve seen any ID@Xbox games yet that have shipped with trials, but we may well in the future. It’s something that’s open to everybody.”

Game trials are extremely convenient especially if you have realistic expectations of purchasing the title in the future. Usually about 100kb, game keys, experienced by us as a patch, are relatively simple updates to the code that’ll enable you to play the entire game. Instead of downloading gigabytes of a full title again, a 100kb converter keeps you in the action.

Microsoft is fantastic…look at this stuff…keeps coming. Monthly system updates, these game trials, full commitment to the fanbase and to delivering the best games. Considering the game offerings now coming this fall and moving forward (crackdown halo and gears !!!)…no other place as good as xbox one.
