Final Fantasy VII Remake Is Not What Everyone Thinks It Is

Looks like the cat’s out the bag Square Enix has released the official press release for Final Fantasy VII Remake and it doesn’t seem to be a full game at release instead we will get a multi-part story similar to episodic content. Square Enix has also stated in the press release the following:

“During this past weekend’s PlayStation Experience in San Francisco, SQUARE ENIX® debuted a new trailer for FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE, the full remake of the award-winning role-playing game, FINAL FANTASY VII. The new trailer features the first CG scenes as well as gameplay footage. FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.”

This could in fact mean that Final Fantasy VII remake will not include all the content from the original game and could unforeseeably be cut. Here’s a WSJ reporter confirming the news and also claiming Square Enix said the file size for Final Fantasy VII  Remake would be so huge that they have to split it into episodes.

We will have more info on Final Fantasy VII Remake as we get updates. In the meantime you can check out the official press release.

Jose Estrella

Hey guys! I’m Jose the second half of Dual Pixels and your host of our Dual Pixels Podcast. I enjoy fighters more than any other genre because I grew up playing them when I was a wee-lad; literally Street Fighter 2 and a tall chair . Overall though, my top favorite games include Street Fighter 3rd Strike (Best game ever, obviously), Super Mario World (sorry folks it was better than part 3), and Super Ghouls and Ghost. I like a mix of everything just as long as a game has something unique or fun about it; and people, let’s not forget about the classics!
