Is Diablo 3 Coming To The Switch?

Blizzard’s official Twitter account sent out a tweet seemingly teasing that Diablo 3 is indeed coming to the Nintendo Switch; that, or, we are in store for a pretty sweet Diablo night light. Check out the tweet in question, below.

It’s easy to draw the connection to this being a port, especially since the short clip clearly emphasizes the switching on factor of the night light. If this is a Switch port of Diablo 3, it is a huge get for Nintendo’s console/handheld hybrid. After some heavy hitters that came early in the consoles lifecycle, support seems to be waning just a tad and the big “what’s next” has become the question on everyone’s mind. Diablo 3 is a big answer to that question, should us (and pretty much the internet gaming industry and fans) be correct that this is a tease for Diablo 3.

Blizzard is in such a position to pull this off since fans would be more than willing to buy Diablo 3 again, probably for a second or third time. Who could say no to some potential portable dungeon crawling after all? All potential issues with how the title would work on a controller quickly faded with the overwhelmingly successful console ports, so the only issue would be how the title would scale down to the Switch’s hardware. Again, if anyone could make this work, Blizzard are the ones to do it. Blizzard is one of the very few that could spark so much interest from a six year old port, but the fever for a portable Diablo is indeed real.

But still, we wouldn’t say no to a night light. For that matter, let’s include all of Blizzard’s properties in the night light train. I could never say no to a Tracer night light.

Update: Polygon reached out to Blizzard Entertainment and a spokesperson responded with: “We can assure you we’re not that clever,” a spokesperson for Blizzard Entertainment said via email. “[It was] meant to be a fun community engagement piece. We have nothing to announce.” Source: Polygon
