Xbox One Sold 3 Million In 2013

Microsoft announced today that Xbox One had been sold to over 3 million consumers in 2013. After launching in November of 2013, Xbox One practically had just over a month to reach that feat, which definitely isn’t a small one (no pun intended). Xbox One encountered significant backlash post E3 2013 which made them completely change their “always-online” system model while recouping from a ton of other controversies which surrounded the system during its pre-launch days.

Together, we ushered in a new era of games and entertainment with Xbox One. Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.

Both console manufacturers, Sony and Microsoft, seem to claim that they’ve sold more than the other this holiday season, so if you’re confused about the winner (if you care about sales stats) then I’m right there with you. Until more concrete evidence of Sony’s PS4 hardware sales come out there’s no way we’ll know.
