Legend of Korra game coming, Platinum Games making it
One of the most widely successful anime series in recent memory, Avatar: The Last Airbender piqued the imaginations of millions with it’s incredible mythos, gripping action, incredible story, and clever humor. Penned by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko , the show aired on Nickelodeon and was unlike anything seen at the time. The show went on for three seasons and continue to be revered by many. Well, until this one awful moment in occurred where M. Night Shamylan made a movie off of it and almost ruined the entire series by releasing it and thereby defacating on the fans. Naturally, the movie was a disastrous failure but, that’s a whole ‘nother story.
It is from this celebration in culture that The Legend of Korra was created. The direct sequel series to The Last Airbender, the series features a new, older protagonist and an entirely new setting in a Gilded-Age era with deep connections to the previous series. So far, the series has been a big sucess with Season 3 premiering on Nickalodeaon tomorrow, June 27th. To celebrate, Platinum Games has come forward to officially announce that they are working on a Korra game and it will be released this coming Fall.
Platinum Games is a name frequently heard noawadays. The team was responsible for several big-hitting action titles, including 2009’s MadWorld, 2010’s Bayonetta with Vanquish, and 2013’s Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The Studio made headlines once more Xbox One exclusive Scalebound and Bayonetta 2 coming to the Wii U. Each of these games have given off a reputation for insane, over-the-top kinetic action that movies extremely quickly. Whether slicing PMC’s as Raiden in MGR, taking on angels in Bayonetta, or power sliding with the AR suit in Vanquish, this kinetic action has made for an exciting element of combat and sheer, difficulty. Many will note, especially with MGR that repeat gameplay, attention to difficulty, and constants attempts are required for mastery. Naturally, with the beding of elements and martial arts combat, The Legend of Korra is a great fit.
PlayStation Blog was lucky enough to reveal some early details. The game will take place place between the climactic ending of Book Two and the upcoming Book Three. The show’s mythology and offensive/defensive measures make for a prime area to develop into a game, along with RPG elements that explore Korra’s combat capabilities. It has been hinted that the game will be accessible to all audiences but challenge players should they try the higher difficulty settings.
