New Story. New Assassin. Last Gen Only | Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

When Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Unity, were you snake-bitten? Contemplating what it would be like without an Assassin’s Creed game on your PS3 or Xbox 360. Those not ready to take the jump to the current-gen fear not! Ubisoft has just revealed Assassin’s Creed Rogue, exclusively for last-gen.

Assassin’s Creed becoming an annualized franchise is quite the talking point for many gamers. Does quality drop? Are they ruining the franchise? Many questions arise, but one thing is for certain, you will never miss out on Assassin’s Creed. With Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Ubisoft has assured that much by making it exclusive to last-gen consoles (PS3,Xbox360).

In Assassin’s Creed Rogue, you play as Shay, a Templar. The unique spin on Rogue should provide for some unique gameplay, especially battling those pesky Assassin’s running rampant around the world. The game will have more weapons, improved Eagle vision and, of course, more of the much beloved naval combat.

The trailer doesn’t really show much, but have a watch below.

The choice to make this game exclusive to last-gen is quite puzzling. Yes, it allows those who don’t have next-gen systems to play AC this year, but those that will be buying Unity, probably won’t double dip on this. Launching a new story that could possibly be a spin-off of the main series on last-gen consoles doesn’t seem to give it much hope. The releases during that month and bleeding into November is ridiculous as it is, and if Ubi was hoping gamers would double dip on AC titles, they are sadly mistaken. A discount if you bought both could be a good way for gamers to plunk down some change, but that’s wishful thinking. Will you be buying Rogue?

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is being released on October 28, 2014 on PS3 and Xbox 360.
