The Spark That Ignited The Survival Horror Genre Is Back | Resident Evil Remaster Revealed

Whatcha’ buyin? Apparently, we will all be grabbing a remaster of Resident Evil (Gamecube remake) some time in 2015.

Capcom, specifically producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi ( Programmer on Resident Evil Zero ) and Tatsuya Kitabayashi (Designer for original Resident Evil on GameCube), have revealed that the Resident Evil Remaster does indeed exist.

The remake will feature the usual fanfare of better sound and increased graphical fidelity, but a few other nice features will also be added. The ability to play the game in it’s original aspect ratio, 4:3, is there and a nice throwback to the gamecube days. The most noticeable addition is the ability to change the control scheme and camera. Playing older games often times yields unwieldy experiences. The common control scheme we are used to hadn’t really happened until the late PS2 early PS3 era and going back can be rough. Also, the camera in the older RE games were fixed, which wasn’t a big issue back then, but can be quite cumbersome after having control today. The team explained that they will be using a controllable camera, which makes the game instantly more accessible.

Resident Evil Remaster will be available in 2015 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The last-gen systems (PS3,Xbox360) will be 720p, while current-gen will be 1080p.
