Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – Gameplay Demo
The Wii U is facing a harsh drought of title releases from now until March. A measly 2 releases (Kirby and the Rainbow Curse / LEGO Marvel Superheros) coming to the console between now and March is once again prompting Nintendo fans to canalize their interests toward the 3DS. One of the 17 titles scheduled for release in that time period most worth being jubilant about is Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
Fans of the series will find themselves with vastly improved wall-climbing and monster-grappling abilities; the monsters are smarter, slipshod underwater fighting mechanic has mercifully become an unpleasant Monster Hunter 3 memory.
The most exciting new features for the North American release that have already been revealed via Monster Hunter 4G in Japan are the “Guild Quests”. Having successfully amended Free Hunt to include longevity protracting loot, the developers have treated fans to a randomized mapping system dovetailed with the new quest system which adds an appreciable addendum to the formerly rigid replayability.
Ryozo Tsujimoto commented on the new feature and how it will effect the metamorphosising cache of weaponry (via Siliconera): “Up until now, you could collect all the weapons in Monster Hunter, and once you’ve collected them all, you say, ‘Okay, now what? I’ve got all there is to get.’ No more. Because now there are randomly-generated parameters, so you will never truly have all of them, and there will always be something for you to get your hands on.”
This, along with the new Monster Hunter focus on verticality – planning for aerial attacks and multi-tiered monster fights – will be packaged in with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS for the March 2015 release.
42 minutes of demo gameplay were recorded at a recent exclusive demo in Frankfurt Germany. The demo itself has not yet been uploaded to eShop but fans can reasonably expect it in the near future.
