Rumor: Luigi’s Mansion Nintendo NX Details

Geno, the same guy that brought you the best and most up-to-date rumors on the Nintendo NX,  rocked the foundations of the internet with his Call of Duty: Bloodlines information, tipped you off on a 3D engine utilizing Pokémon game that came packed with a new Pokémon type way before X & Y came out, and so much more is back exclusively on Dual Pixels to tell you more.

All the details on Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo NX can be read below:

“Luigi’s Mansion 3 is planned to be Nintendo’s impressive visual launch title. The goal I’ve been told, was when the team at Next Level and EAD Tokyo 2 saw the American commercial for Luigi’s Mansion 2 (aka Dark Moon) their goal was to create something that visually stunning for NX and according to sources they have come “damn close to it” with one saying “it’s going to cause arguments on the internet whether it’s a bullsh*t or not despite us developers knowing you can achieve something like on the current hardware specs”. The game uses a lot of advance lighting techniques to create this “living 3d cartoon movie” look with insanely detailed shadows and transparencies. It also shows off the haptic analog sticks, which will resist when trying to capture ghosts. An AR multiplayer mode is also planned to be in the final version of the game.”

You should know the franchise on consoles never sold well. Luigis Mansion 1 sold like 3.6 Mio after 6 years…While the 3DS-successor sold 4 Mio in just 3 years i heard lol.

That’s not even half bad! it’s much better than A LOT of games out there on consoles with larger installed base than the GC. Then again, what does this have to do with my excitement for a fun game that I love?

The 3DS has a much larger install base and by the release of Dark Moon, the original was seen as a bit of a cult classic. The GameCube had a small install base and at the time, there was backlash aimed at the original for not being a proper Mario game. Not because it wasn’t portable.

Keep in mind that while true, when the original Luigi’s Mansion released video game sales in general weren’t anywhere even kinda, vaguely, remotely close to what we see today with AAA’s like COD, GTA, Destiny, etc. I 2002 or so, 3.6 million copies of a game was considered WAY more than today – in fact most AAA’s didn’t break 5 or 10-million. Luigi’s Mansion actually did quite well as a launch GameCube title (It even sold well enough to qualify for a Player’s Choice release). And for a handheld, even 3DS, 4-million copies sold is pretty good. Is the franchise a blockbuster, no, but it is popularly well regarded among nintendo fans and sales just fine.

So? How much a game sales is none of my concern I only care about how good the game is to me.

If Bay 2 is to be believed, low initial sales aren’t a guarantee that Nintendo won’t use a franchise.XD

I loved Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. Hope this is true!

Curious about the AR multiplayer, though. Do you think it could be like this?

Certainly falls inline with rumors about NX being a super powerful machine.

LM is my favorite franchise so this would be a day one buy.

      March 15, 2016 at 9:58 AM — Reply

Not really, since you don`t need a powerful machine to run Luigis Mansion-games in general lol since its comic-graphics. What they are speaking about is just better details in graphics such as the lighting and fire/water-effects. See? But if Nextgen-Minecraft is never announced for NX, that just means: NX is not able to play it. Which then would mean: Its just not powerful.
So far it doesn´t seem like NX will get the Nextgen-Minecraft.

“Comic graphics” just implies a style and not how resource intensive are the resources – you can absolutely need powerful hardware to run a game that is done in a “comic style”.
“Lighting and fire/water-effects”, along with those “better details in graphics”, can imply more polygons, more particle effects, etc. All which can require increasingly more powerful hardware to process and render.

Damn it. Our WiiU is only about 2 years old now and I wasn’t planning on buying a “NX” for a few years down the road. My son LOVES Luigi’s Mansion and if this is true he’s going to be BEGGING for this…

If its a simple ARM-game, its likely to get on WiiU too. We will see this e3 if this rumour is true at all…
Chances are 95% its a simple ARM-game. And if that is true, its very likely to got onto WiiU too. Since WiiU also uses ARM-processors for 50% of its lineup.

Wrong. Wii U does not use ARM. It uses 100% PowerPC.

I don’t plan to buy NX early. But good to know that when I most likely do end up with one, there’s a chance of it having Luigi’s Mansion. Loved the original (Gamecube had some pretty epic games.)

Since Dark Moon was a handheld game, I think it’s safe to say that Dark Moon 2 is a handheld game as well.

which means… NX is a handheld.

Hello again, Dual Pixels. I fear my comment was lost in the other article, so I do want to follow through and see if I can’t reach you this time. I feel that these Geno articles should have something to alert the common reader that Geno is not as reliable as some seem to think. Many of his “leaks” have contained astonishing amounts false information. One only needs to look at Pokemon Plus and Minus and his E3 2012 info dump to see that. Not to mention that his NX hardware leak was copy and pasted from 4chan. Attached, again, is a screencap of that 4Chan post in case you’re missing it. It is in my opinion as an aspiring journalist that a source as unreliable as Geno is as good as no source. So that is why I bring into question why you post these rumors. Is it because you believe in them, find them newsworthy and want to reveal them to the public? Or is it because these rumors cause a notable uptick in traffic? An average DualPixels article often doesn’t seem to get any comments, but Geno’s rumors seem to gather a respectable amount. I would like to believe the former, but it is getting progressively harder to do so.

I’m also curious as to how you respond to the allegations that you’ve been deleting comments like this that call out Geno on his behaviors. I considered trying to find an email address that I could contact with these concerns, but I do believe that this is best solved in a public space. I think you’ll agree that it only seems fitting that one who reports false information in a public space should also apologize in a public space for doing so. Do keep in mind I will be taking screencaps of this comment and of any replies the staff of DualPixels may give it for future prosperity. I’m sure that you’ll find that such actions can only help the reputation of DualPixels and it’s staff. I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, and I look forward to your response. Many thanks for your time.

The first LM was one of the best games I have ever played. Unfortunately, LM dark moon went away from the spooky, more “serious” side of the game… If the rumors are true, I hope LM3 goes back to the roots started with the original LM.

” It also shows off the haptic analog sticks, which will resist when trying to capture ghosts.”

Am I really the only one calling bullshit on this? There is no way *in hell* Nintendo designs a controller whose motor actually pushes back against the user’s fingers and, if it did, it would be prone to breaking and malfunctioning so often that they might as well ship every single console with a lifetime warrant for replacements. Nevermind the power that the motor would have to have just to ensure it can create enough tension to resist a grown adult player’s grip.

It could be that this Geno guy is just stupid and misunderstood “the analog sticks vibrate” with “THE ANALOG STICKS HAVE THIS MOTOR WHICH ACTUALLY RESISTS PLAYER MOVEMENT AND SHIT”.

Either way, this is precisely what tips me off that this might be fake, and his extremely broad statements about other stuff don’t impress me either.

I am so glad people are putting up happy comments for the NX and Nintendo. I’m tired of reading another post from haters. The company is 125 years old and has a cash reserve of 10b dollars. The games for years have been high quality with an IP cadre that blows the other consoles away. Yes, I’m a big Nintendo fan and always will be.
