Zachary Levi’s Nerd HQ to become a Non Profit Organization

With the premiere of Shazam just days away, Zachary Levi has been popping up everywhere. The pun was intended; if you’ve seen a poster for Shazam, many of them include Zachary Levi in character blowing a bubblegum bubble. Aside from Shazam, many fans have been wondering what the heck happened with Nerd HQ. In a live Q&A on Facebook, Zachary Levi confirmed that he is in the process of evolving Nerd HQ entirely into a Non Profit Organization. You can watch the entire Q&A on Levi’s Facebook page here; for reference, the question about Nerd HQ is at the end of the 20 minute interview.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Nerd HQ was easily one of my favorite parts of San Diego Comic Con. General admission was always free, and Levi confirmed that this will never change. Nerd HQ also offered intimate panels with celebrity favorites in a Q&A largely led by the audience. These panels do cost money, but the money goes directly to the charity, Operation Smile. Levi mentioned that these panels would still be offered. The panels are some of the most fun that I have been able to partake, and I’m glad to hear that there’s still hope of Nerd HQ coming to a city near you.

So what does this all mean? It seems that Zachary Levi is working hard to better Nerd HQ before bringing it to other cities. Levi chuckled when explaining that Nerd HQ was a for profit organization even though they didn’t make much money. Now, he’s committed to Nerd HQ becoming a Non Profit. Levi has mentioned that he doesn’t foresee Nerd HQ coming back to San Diego Comic Con, but that doesn’t mean that Nerd HQ won’t show up at other conventions. The wait on any Nerd HQ news has been frustrating for fans, but hopefully, this little snippet of news can only mean good things for the future of Nerd HQ.
