The Nintendo 3DS has now officially sold more hardware units than the legendary Nintendo 64, which launched in 1996. Despite selling more hardware units, it hasn’t sold more software units. The Nintendo 64 has sold almost double the software units. As of September 30th, 2013, The amount of 3DS Hardware shipped to retailers is at 34,980,000 units, while the Nintendo 64’s numbers are 32,930,000 units. As for software, the Nintendo 64 has shipped a whopping 224,970,000 units to retails, while the Nintendo 3DS has shipped 122,420,000.
