Capcom is Sponsering Drake Vs. Lil Wayne a concert tour with none other than…Drake and Lil Wayne. This out of the blue collaboration seems odd at first but makes a bit of sense if you look at it from the perspective of Capcom trying to raise their “cool factor” within pop-culture. Video games are essentially pop culture these days. The stereotypical anatomy of what a “gamer” is has been voided by the infiltration of the gaming culture to mainstream audiences. Your dad may love Call of Duty and your mom may love Dance Central on the contrary; all-in-all there’s always been something available for the entire family.
Drake is no stranger to the gaming culture however; just last year he collaborated with EA to launch FIFA 14 that was promoted with a sexy October’s Very Own limited edition console. It has been said that Drake Vs. Lil Wayne will be a sort of “stage battle” between the two hip-hop artists; but instead of fists there will be an exchange of bass sync’d metaphors and verbage.
“Since, thank god we’ve been so successful, [we’ll just be] going back and forth with our hits and getting the crowd to go crazy, then just finally hit the stage together,†Weezy (Lil Wayne) told MTV News on his “Krazy†video set last month. “It’s a battle type thing.â€
Hopefully we’ll see Drake Vs. Lil Wayne DLC in Ultra Street Fighter IV as Ryu and Akuma alternate costumes. (***CAPCOM TAKE THE HINT***)Â
