Goosbumps, starring Jack Black and directed by Rob Letterman, is making its landing into theaters this coming Friday, October the 16th. As per usual, the arrival of highly-anticipated family adventure films yields the deluge of film-themed merchandise as an attempt to capitilize on sales. In the midst of the sea of merchandise set to arrive on store shelves are video games launched to tie-in to the craze. Two different Goosebumps games are launching this week. Goosebumps: The Game, a text-based adventure game that serves as a prequel to the movie,  is launching on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles today. In addition, a hide-and-seek adventure game is arriving to mobile platforms on Thursday, October 15th.  Scholastic, Sony Consumer Products, Comsic Forces Studios, and Free Range Games bring us Goosebumps: Night of Scares.
The game plays as an adventure game, where players must use their wits, skills, and timing to avoid R.L Stine’s. In addition, to stop the beasts from destroying the city, players will need to solve puzzles to stop the menacing monstrosities. Â The game will consist of motion sensors and touch-screen prompts that the player can control. There are a wide range of actions and outcomes for the player, making each moment different. For those that are able, the game will be compatible with VR systems for an immersive experience as well. Finally, JAck Black lends his voice and likeness to the game as famed author R.L Stine.
The game will land on the Google Play Store and the App Store this Thursday, October the 15th.
