A new member of the Nintendo handheld family has been announced. This handheld is dubbed “Nintendo 2DS”, on account of it functioning like a normal Nintendo 3DS without the 3D feature. The device will launch on October 12th at a suggested retail price of $129.99.
The Nintendo 2DS will play any 3DS game, both retail and download, again in just 2D. It will also play with up to 2,000 Nintendo DS Games. While the appearance of the design is questionable, the concept of a more affordable Nintendo hand-held system makes up for it.
As for the design, I am open to it; however, Brett Molina from USA Today had a hands on impression and had this to say.
Still scratching your head about the slate design? So was I. Then I held the device and started playing some games. It’s surprisingly comfortable, fitting snugly between two hands whether you’re racing go-karts or exploring a scary mansion.
While the design is questionable, the concept of a more affordable Nintendo hand-held system makes up for it. Stick around here at Dual Pixels for all things Nintendo 2DS.
