Oliver is doing a good job getting his team to work together. Now, they just have to work out the kinks. They seem to be starting to hold their own, but Wild Dog is still having trouble following orders. Plus, Ragman isn’t ready to come back into the fold. Oliver leaves Star City for a bit while attempting to break John Diggle out of a military prison with the help of Diggle’s trusted wife, Lyla.
Somehow Oliver thinks that it’s a good idea to break Diggle out of prison. Lyla and Oliver work together to devise a plan to infiltrate a military prison and get out with Diggle in hand. Felicity isn’t keen on the idea, and neither is the rest of the new Team Arrow. Felicity thinks that Oliver only ever wants to do what he wants, not what anyone else wants. John doesn’t want to be broken out, and they are going to make John a wanted man forever.
The new team, Artemis, Mr Terrific, and Wild Dog, all try to stop Oliver. I’m not sure what they thought they were going to do, but they all go on the offense and try to take him down. Of course, Oliver beats them all down while barely lifting a finger. The recruits are figuring out just how dangerous Oliver can be. They actually groan when they realize that he has been going easy on them.
Well that was short lived. Oliver is officially on his way to get Diggle out of prison. Ollie breaks in and gets to Diggle, but now’s the hard part. First off, Diggle is confused to see Oliver. John still doesn’t want to leave. He explains how he needs to do his penance for killing his brother. Oliver thinks that he could do that as Spartan and back on the Arrow team. Although, I’m not sure how he can do that if he’s on the run. Diggle finally agrees to go with Oliver, and they only narrowly escape. John is happy to be out of prison and to see his family, but I think he’s going to have a hard time being a fugitive. He’s hidden for now, but what happens next.
Meanwhile, the new Team Arrow took down one of Church’s men and managed to get whatever he was trying to steal. Curtis wonders why they were trying to steal something so generic that they could easily just get at the store. Well it turns out that it was outfitted to be a bomb, and Church blew up the evidence locker. He stole back all of the weapons that were stolen from his men. As if Church weren’t dangerous enough as is, he’s not armed to the teeth.
Since Oliver was away, the new Team Arrow went out on their own. They were completely in over their heads and terrified, but they couldn’t sit around and do nothing. They were actually working together as a team until Curtis was stabbed in the back. They worked together to get him out, but Wild Dog stayed behind to confront Church on his own. They could never get Wild Dog back out, and he’s not in the hands of Church and his men. Hopefully, the team can get him out ASAP.
In the flashback scenes from this week, we’re finally seeing Oliver become Bratva. Ollie is on his final test. Anatoly makes him get thrown in jail overnight to get information out of someone. It turns out this man works for Constantine Kovar. The man is laundering money for Kovar. As soon as he realizes that Oliver is Bratva, he knows that he’s in trouble. Oliver gets the information from him and swiftly breaks his neck. He gets out of the prison but isn’t too happy about having to kill the man. He only did it because Anatoly told him to. Anatoly says that Bratva now trusts Oliver, and he officially has a new family. Cheers. Now Ollie just has to continue on his journey to kill Kovar.
Rory, aka Ragman, and Felicity are at odds now that he knows about her involvement in Havenrock. He temporarily quits Team Arrow. He can’t work with Felicity and the constant reminder of what he lost. Oliver is sad to see him go but doesn’t fight too hard. Rory comes back to the team once they are up against Church, and hopefully, we haven’t seen the last of him.
