COD: Black Ops 2 First to Have In-Game Live Stream Support with Twitch TV

Treyarch and Activision have made a move that I feel is well overdue by any competitive gaming outlet available to date. Black Ops 2 now supports live streaming while in game. It seems like Activision’s strategy on keeping their fans interested is by connecting them to all sorts of social media to keep their friends updated on their achievements. Now they’ve taken matters to the next level and put the power of live streaming into the hands of people that didn’t have the proper equipment before. Linked with Twitch TV, the premiere gaming live stream site, they’ve released support to stream from the xbox 360 and playstation 3. You are able to use your Playstation Eye and the Kinect for xbox 360 as a webcam to add to your live stream. The live stream feature also supports in game chat from your headset. Going live is pretty easy as well, you simply put in your credentials to your Twitch TV account and then switch the Live stream option to “On” and you’re ready to play. The game lets you know that the streaming is on a shared network so your live stream may be disconnected after 30 minutes.  The idea and process of being able to live works pretty great but I must say the overall weakness of this feature is the quality. There is a sort of color bleed or shadow to the game resolution on the watcher’s side of the stream. So far that is the only complaint that I have about the streaming support. I think this is a great step to what all games and future consoles should support straight from the start.

Hey guys! I am Jose the second half of Dual Pixels and co-host of DPR. I enjoy fighters more than any other genre because I grew up playing them when I was a wee-lad. Looking forward to the future of gaming and more Spider-Man! Come on Sony you can do it.
