Destiny, Bungie’s new IP, published by Activision is set to be yet another billion dollar franchise in their financial ecosystem. Activision is ecstatic about data from only one day on the market that shows the Bungie shooter has generated over $500 million in sales. That staggering figure is absolutely unheard of for a new IP, but given Bungie’s reputation and hype behind their work with Halo, it is not unexpected. PS4 was the lead platform of Activision & Sony’s sensational collective marketing effort although Destiny is available on the respective platforms PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Destiny takes the throne as the highest selling new IP in video game history in addition to the highest selling digitally downloaded title in history on day 1.
