Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are developing a film based on the hugely successful action adventure game Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost of Tsushima has just hit a milestone selling through 6.5 million copies, which is very impressive for a new IP. Ghost of Tsushima follows the story of samurai Jin Sakai, the last of his clan and is further trying to free the the land of Tsushima.
While movie based on video games have been very middling as the medium progresses, we are seeing much more efforts with movie adaptations. Ghost of Tsushima is bringing in Chad Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz are producing through their company 87Eleven Entertainment. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will produce on behalf of PlayStation Productions. Sucker Punch Productions will serve as Executive Producers. Peter Kang is overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.
Ghost of Tsushima will follow The Last of Us, Twisted Metal as being another one of Sony’s IP to translate over from games to TV/ Movies. Stay tuned as we will have more information on these upcoming productions.
