The Scorpion team is determined to have a good Halloween and plan a party, even if some of it is for the sake of their INS agent. These geniuses are going to get closer to having a Halloween horror movie experience than they thought. Cabe brings them a new case where they have to save a group of bats from a deadly disease.
The team must go spelunking outside of Tempe, AZ to save the bats. The bats are dying from WNS, white nose syndrome. These bats kill insects which helps farmers, so if the bats die, crops will be negatively affected. Walter created a fungi bomb to disperse a gas that will help the bats. Unfortunately, it can be fatal to humans, so the team must be very careful with it.
As if that weren’t enough to jinx the team, Walter tells Sly not to worry because they will be back in LA before they know it. We know it’s all downhill from there. I also questioned why Cabe, Sly, Toby, Paige, and Walter all needed to go. Now, they needed Sly for his math; Toby is always good because of his medical knowledge. I’m not really sure why Paige was there especially with Ralph at the garage, but that’s okay.
The team must save the two zoologists who were in the caves before they got there. When they reached the husband, he was all bit from the bats and exhibiting signs of rabies. Toby gets him to safety and develops a serum to cure the rabies. The team goes on to find the zoologist’s wife, who is also bit up from the bats. Even Sly gets a single bat bite. In the end, Walter and Paige have to blast their way out of the cave, which ends up dispersing the fungi bomb throughout the caves thus saving the bats. Phew, another case down.
Paige acted like her Halloween experiences growing up were completely normal. She claims to have gone trick or treating and enjoyed being with her family. But, while they are in the cave, Paige comes clean. Paige wanted them to know that her dad was a good man, but her mom had some trouble. When her mom left them, her dad was crushed. For Halloween, he would buy cheap candy to leave outside. He turned off the lights, so no one knew they were home. They stayed in and watched It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Paige said that seeing other families happy on Halloween was just too much for him.
When Paige was telling her fake story, Toby had a point. We don’t really know anything about Paige’s childhood. We really only know that she has a genius son, and she was a waitress prior to Scorpion. I’d love to hear more about Paige’s upbringing and how she ended up with Ralph and that waitress job.
It’s obvious that the team is trying way too hard to impress the INS lady. Toby took costumed photos of Happy and Walter to make a Halloween photo book. I’m not sure why they feel the need to have these photo books ready. Maybe they could talk about their memories; just a thought. In any case these geniuses missed a detail that gave them away. Of course, now the INS lady is even more suspicious. Walter tried to talk his way out of it, which was actually not half bad. Maybe Walter should do more talking for them.
With Happy being back at the garage during the case, she was in charge of Ralph. Considering Ralph’s a genius, how hard could it be? This was Happy’s train of thought, but he’s still a child. Ralph didn’t take it easy on her. He ate too much candy and blew up a few pumpkins. Happy was worried all the time and started freaking out about becoming a mom. But Paige knows exactly what she needs. She makes Ralph thank Happy for taking care of him and tell her that she’s going to be a great mom. Even though Paige made him do it, it was still a nice gesture. I’m sure Happy and Toby will be great parents.
