Now that everything is out in the open, Adrian Chase aka Prometheus is glad that he no longer has to hide from his greatest enemy. Oliver learns some surprising facts about his former teacher, Talia, and Felicity joins Helix.
Oliver goes looking for Talia, to ask her for help with Prometheus. Nothing could ever prepare him for what he found. Talia is angry with Oliver and says that their business concluded five years ago. She helped Prometheus because Oliver killed her father. When Oliver is confused, Talia tells him her full name, Talia al Ghul. I didn’t realize that Oliver thought Talia was just another member of the League of Assassins. She helped Prometheus on his quest to destroy Oliver, and so to knock him down another peg, Talia reveals Prometheus’s identity. She tells Oliver that Prometheus calls himself Adrian Chase. It’s clear that Oliver’s entire world comes crashing down with these words. Chase has been an ally up until this exact moment.
Oliver is ready to give the city the Star Throwing killer, but Chase knows that it isn’t that easy. He tells Oliver, “I’m ten steps ahead of you, and you haven’t even figured out what game we’re playing yet.†This is true; we have no idea what Chase’s end goal is, aside from the very vague definition of destroying Oliver. Oliver is now questioning his choices with the recruits and letting people into the team. He says that they all make him vulnerable, and he can’t see past the fact that he has created more targets for Prometheus.
Felicity is back in the hacktivist world. She officially starts at Helix, and she’s so excited for her first task. She sees a wall of screens and asks what it is. Alena tells her that Helix hacked into every cell phone in the world. Did anyone else have all the hair on the back of your neck stand up? When Felicity comes to Helix asking for help finding Susan Williams, Alena tells her no. She asks what Felicity is contributing to Helix; they want something before they help her, quid pro quo. Felicity agrees to hack into Homeland Security drones. She redirects them away from border patrols. When she enlists Curtis’s help, he becomes worried. He knows that Diggle and Ollie would not approve of her new life.
Oliver realizes that something is bothering Felicity, and he approaches her about it. He knows that she’s into something, but she doesn’t want to tell him. He tells her that keeping secrets doesn’t end well. Felicity should know this. It’s what broke their relationship. Still, Felicity only tells him that now isn’t really a good time and asks for his trust. When Oliver is abducted, Felicity goes back to Helix and promises them whatever they want in turn for helping her track down her friend.
The flashback was a little weak this episode. Kovar and Anatoly are fighting to the death, and in the aftermath, the Bratva is being destroyed. All of the captains are dead, but Gregor will only find new ones to promote who are loyal to him. When Oliver explains that he is giving his darkness an identity, Anatoly thinks that he’s crazy. Anatoly says that Talia is going to be the source of his greatest pain. It looks like Oliver should have listened to Anatoly. Also, I love that he made fun of Oliver for the deep Green Arrow voice.
