Supergirl dials up the fun in “Crossfire.†Kara is helping Mon-El fit into this crazy place called Earth. Cadmus is rearing its ugly head again. This time our lead scientist lady is giving common criminals alien weapons. They waste no time before destroying National City.
Cadmus is back, and the lead scientist is arming criminals. This criminal gang is robbing banks using alien weapons to protect themselves against Supergirl. It seems that Cadmus just wants to show how dangerous aliens and their technology is. Of course, this is only making people realize that they all want alien weapons as well to protect themselves from aliens.
Lena Luthor is putting on a fundraiser, which is the perfect target for this gang. Supergirl knows this is her chance to take them down once and for all. Surprisingly, Lena knows that the gang is going to hit her party and is ready for them. Winn finds Lena under a table working on some device. Winn helps her to get the device working, and they save the day. I wonder what will happen if the citizens of National City realize that regular people saved them from alien technology and not Supergirl.
Speaking of National City citizens, they are about to get another protector. James Olsen is getting tired of sitting on the sidelines. He wants to be part of the action and feel like he’s making a difference. He asks Winn for help to make him some armor or a suit of some kind, but Winn doesn’t want to give him a reason to put himself in danger. James is determined to do this with or without Winn’s help, so in the end, Winn is going to help James. Hopefully, we get to see his superhero reveal soon, but he might need a little more training.
Kara is very excited about helping Mon-El get out into the real world. She dressed him up in a button up, cardigan, and glasses. She gave him a new name, Mike Matthews, and an internship at CatCo. Kara thinks that he will have no trouble assimilating to Earth, but he’s much older than Kara was when she came to Earth. She had a tough time starting in the seventh grade on Earth, but at least everyone is fairly awkward at that time in their lives. Mike on the other hand has gone through puberty on another planet.
Well he does learn one thing right away. Mike learns that he is attractive to women, and he can get them to do his work by being nice to them. Kara is constantly disappointed when she realizes that Mike isn’t being just like her. It isn’t until she sits down to complain about it with Alex that she understands that she can’t force Mike to be like her. Alex remembers doing the same thing when Kara first came to Earth, but she eventually let Kara become her own person.
Alex is also trying to find her own way. Maggie’s girlfriend dumped her, and Alex is trying way too hard to make her feel better. Alex is really concerned and tries to cheer her up. Maggie reads into it and thinks that Alex is asking her out on a date. Alex assures her that she’s not into girls, but it’s clear that she’s confused about her feelings. Later, she talks with Maggie about how she’s feeling. Alex always thought that she was just not meant to date. She never thought that there was a reason why she didn’t tend to enjoy dating. Hopefully, she lets herself be happy no matter what that means.
I was happy to see Winn more in this episode, but I was a little upset that we didn’t get more best friend interactions between Winn and Kara. Kara and Mon-El are finally getting along. They danced at Lena’s party, and James and Winn may have been a little jealous. With Cadmus popping up again, the lead scientist is taking no prisoners. She had some sort of implant in the heads of the gang members, so none of them could be taken alive and identify her. Our final bombshell revealed just who this Cadmus lady is. Of course, she’s Lena Luthor’s mother. Well this just got awkward.
