Lucifer stirs up some family drama this week on “Pops.” Chloe’s actress mother is in town and wants to have a nice family dinner. And of course, Malcolm is still on the loose and after Lucifer. How will Dan be able to handle his new partner?

Lucifer and Chloe are at a crime scene where Chef Javier has been poisoned. Lucifer is beside himself. He can’t believe that he will never taste Chef Javier’s food again. When Chloe says that they have to do a full sweep of the restaurant for toxins, Lucifer says that they should see if he wrote down his recipes. Leave it to Lucifer to always be looking out for number one.

They question everyone at the restaurant, but everyone loved Chef Javier. They all called him Pops and considered Chef Javier a father figure in their lives. Javier’s son, Junior, just got to town and didn’t have the best relationship with his dad. Junior tells Chloe and Lucifer how he was never going to live up to his dad, so he rejected everything Javier stood for. At this point Lucifer sees a parallel to their lives and is sure that Junior killed his father. Junior insists that he was in town to have a meal with his father and to reconcile their relationship. Junior was ready to start cooking again.

Once Lucifer is convinced that Junior didn’t try to kill Pops, he invites Junior to family dinner at the Decker household. Lucifer tries his hardest to ruin the dinner, but he has no clue that he’s making everything worse. He brings up Chloe and Dan potentially getting back together. This causes Chloe to reveal their kiss. Lucifer then says that her feelings for Dan must be why she won’t sleep with him, which gets a rise out of Dan. Penelope is just soaking it all in and laughing, until Lucifer brings up the fact that Chloe resented her mother for acting like a child and making her grow up too fast.

Dan tells Lucifer that he wanted one reason to stick up for Lucifer. Lucifer has no idea what this means, and Dan leaves. Later Dan sees Malcolm and even tells hims that Lucifer deserves everything coming to him. Just when you think Dan is okay with Malcolm murdering Lucifer, he tosses his handcuffs to Malcolm and tells him he’s taking him in. Malcolm won’t go quietly, and a scuffle ensues. Malcolm gets the upper hand and knocks out Dan. Chloe texts Dan asking to give their relationship another shot. Malcolm answers for Dan and ends it with Chloe before they could even get anything going again. What does Malcolm plan to do with Dan?

After the disastrous dinner, Chloe and Lucifer still need to find Pops’ killer. Since Junior wasn’t set to inherit the restaurant, Pops’ protege, Anne, was the new owner of the restaurant. When she found out that Pops was planning to bring Junior back into the fold, she tried to take out the competition. She accidentally killed Pops when she meant to kill Junior. In her final attempt to get away, Anne set fire to the restaurant, trapping Chloe and Lucifer inside. Lucifer carries Chloe out and gets some nasty burns in the process, how ironic.

After Dan ends their relationship before they can start anything, Chloe seeks comfort from Lucifer at Lux. She shows up at the club drunk and upset after receiving the bad news from Dan. She throws herself at Lucifer, and he backs away. I’m not sure at this point who is more shocked, Chloe or Lucifer. He’s not really sure why he is saying no, but Lucifer doesn’t take advantage of Chloe. Instead, he lets her fall asleep on his shoulder.

Mazikeen wasn’t prevalent in this episode, but she sure was hilarious. After meeting Linda, Maze decides that she should go seek her professional help. Linda isn’t sure that it’s appropriate to see Maze, but Maze won’t take no for an answer. Maze says that she wants to  be normal and asks Linda to tell her what to do. Maze even wonders if she has to sleep with Linda, but Linda isn’t having it. She tells Maze to actively embrace her environment and maybe try to make some friends.

Maze sure makes a friend all right. Trixie runs away when Chloe and Penelope start fighting about her. Trixie uses Chloe’s account to get an Uber to Lux. She asks Maze if Lucifer is there. Trixie explains that she’s Lucifer’s friend, and she’ll wait until Lucifer gets back. Maze pours Trixie a drink; I guess she hasn’t mastered the art of befriending an eight year old. Trixie explains that her mother and her nana were fighting over what she will be when she grows up. Maze asks what she wants to be, and Trixie replies, “I want to be the first president of Mars… or a zoo keeper.” This is why Trixie is the best.

Later, Maze goes back to Linda and tells her that she made a friend. Linda is glad that she made a friend, but maybe she should try to find a friend of legal drinking age. Maze then asks if Linda wants to hang out. I sure hope these two become friends. They would be a fierce duo, and Lucifer would more than have his hands full with the women in his life.
