It’s happening! Need For Speed appears to be going back to what made it insanely popular in the first place, and thus rebooting the franchise. This is a welcomed reveal as I’ve been down on the Need For Speed franchise for quite some time. The most recent offering, Need For Speed: Rivals, added a bit to the series; but it didn’t really pull me in as previous games had. The customization didn’t seem to be there, the world felt a bit stagnant, and above all else; the game just wasn’t that much fun to play. To say it was a vast departure from the NFS: Underground or even NFS: Most Wanted entries of yesteryear is quite the understatement. But with this tiny “teaser,” the series appears to be going back to its roots. The press releases promises that the series is going back to what made the series the icon that it has become,”Deep Customization, Authentic Urban Car Culture, Open World, and Immersive Narrative.” A gameplay reveal is set for June 15, 2015; surely to be a staple of EA’s presser.
Need For Speed is being developed by Ghost Games, formerly EA Gothenburg (NFS: Rivals), and will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
