Last week when Dual Pixels launched its leak of the Nintendo NX controller, Nintendo refused to comment. After a lot of back and fourth, I managed to get the following statement:Â “Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation.” I reached out again recently to Nintendo today, as have other journos from other gaming websites, and we received this response:
“We have nothing to announce on this topic.”
If our recent rumors and leak weren’t true, why not just stick with the usual “Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation” line? We leaked a photograph of the prototype of a controller for their next console, which they cancelled the production of their current console over. They went from basically ‘Don’t bother us with this crap’ to ‘This sh*t is serious, let’s go hide.’ What do we make of this? Dual Pixels’ leak, along with those that took place today and those to come are, and probably will be, true. The debate now is whether Nintendo should own it or wait until E3.
It means it was all a hoax as of today and they didn’t want you wasting their time.
