We are closing in on the final episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and the latest episode “Destiny” really is exactly what we’ve come to know from this season. It certainly has its ups and downs, but overall it has been quite an enjoyable experience thus far.

With the majority of the crew stuck at The Vanishing Point, Jefferson was blasted back to 2016. Having Jefferson go back is interesting because, as they mention time and time again, they don’t want to mess up the timeline too much. Jefferson does try to skirt his way around certain things when asking for Stein’s help, but it’s obvious something will slip through the cracks. The two characters have done well for this show, and they certainly work well off of one another here. The two took a little while to warm up to one another, so it’s fun watching them break the ice and become close so quickly in a handful of scenes woven through the episode’s main plot.

As for everyone else, it is all really status quo. They are jailed, and the counsel is attempting to turn Mick back into Chronos. It’s quite hilarious that, for some reason, they think it will work when it didn’t the first time. Last time he was so focused on revenge and that is what kept him grounded, but in this episode he does admit that now it is because he was thinking about the team. The big reveal in this episode, however, is when they begin to talk about The Oculus.

The Oculus is a device that allows them to manipulate absolutely everything that is happening; therefore, every action the crew has ever taken has been predetermined. That brings up quite a few questions as to how, if ever, they will be able to break out of their current predicament. They have essentially been puppets up until this point. More dire, we learn that the counsel believes that Savage is a necessary evil. After he destroys the world, they feel that Savage is the only one that can unite the world against a threat even worse than Savage himself. With how much power the Time Masters have, you think they would be able to come up with something better than letting Savage take over the world. But, things don’t go according to plan for the Time Masters or Savage.

Since the only place they actually have free will is at the Vanishing Point, they bust out of there and blow up the compound. Their next stop is to blow up the Oculus once and for all. Of course, they are intercepted by the Time Master’s army, but they make some nice quick work of them. Now, the monumental scene that should have been much bigger than it was.

The Oculus has a fail-safe that has to be held down to self-destruct, and three members of the crew swap between holding it down at one point. First it is Ray, who Rip saw die when he first viewed the Oculus, then Mick and Snart. Snart and Sara finally break through the tension and she gives him one last kiss goodbye. Snart is the last one on the fail safe, and it looks like he may actually be gone. Well, until they feel like bringing him back anyway. With Legends, time is as fluid as it needs to be at that time.

As for Savage, he does still kill Rip’s family with Kendra chained to his ship. The kicker, though, is that since the head Time Master is dead (Druce) and The Oculus is blown up, there is no one to help Savage with his reign of terror. It will be interesting to see what path they take going forward since Savage was basically handed the world.
