I didn’t agree with how Microsoft chose to reveal some of the first games of the new generation, but I did enjoy most of the games shown. One of those being Bandai Namco’s, Scarlet Nexus.
It’s hard not to be enamored by enemies with such a creative design. Hoof-like creatures with human hands and bouquets as bodies: if that doesn’t peak your interest in the slightest, I honestly don’t know what to tell you. According to Bandai Namco’s press release, you will “take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, armed with a talent in , and explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and physic abilities.”
Scrlet Nexus appears to feature a Platinum-esque battle system. Scarlet Nexus Senior Brand Manager, Stephen Akana, describes the goals of Scarlet Nexus’ battle system: “Scarlet Nexus aims to change the way gamers view Japanese RPGs with a powerful futuristic aesthetic as well as a streamlined combat system that balances fast-paced action with strategic planning.” I don’t think anyone would ever be opposed to that. Scarlet Nexus will be Xbox One X enhanced (in 4k), is optimized for Xbox Series X and will take advantage of Smart delivery. Having said that, it is also slated to come to PS4, PS5 and PC (via Steam).Â
