Gematsu is reporting some new info out of Japan’s Famitsu magazine about Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. First up are two new characters, Emerson and Anne. Emerson is purportedly a lover of fine booze and fine women. He uses a bow gun as his primary weapon. Anne is his traveling partner. This cat-lover uses melee attacks to take down her foes.
The Gematsu article also explains the “Role” battle system. Similar to FFXII’s gambits, each AI character is given a “role.” These “roles” determine the actions that said character will take while in battle. Attacker will concentrate on attacking while giving the character a boost to the ATK stat, while the Caster role uses mostly skill attacks and increases the INT skill. There are also the Bazaar and Fighter “roles.” The former goes after enemies that do chip damage to the player, while the latter throws caution to the wind and fights solely with attacks.
The “Role” system will help give players more control over their characters by also giving them ability boosts in the form of a Factor or using a Burst attack.
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will be out in North America next year on the Playstation 4.
