2K has announced, finally, that the Bioshock Collection will be making its way to the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. The collection will contain Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite as well as all of the single player DLC that was released for each game. It will retail for $59.99 and will be available on September 13th. PC owners who have the games will get updates that will bring the games to the quality of the remasters.
But is it worth it to returning fans or newbies? I honestly think so. I’ve played all three games, the first two on Xbox 360 and Infinite on PC and I enjoyed my experiences a lot. The first game’s atmosphere was amazing from the beginning. I immediately turned off the quest arrow and just took my time exploring Rapture, and the twists were done well enough. The second game was the weakest of the three, but still worth playing. The game was a lot more linear than it’s predecessor, but it’s combat was also a lot better. Bioshock Infinite consumed me for the 4 days it took me to beat the story. For the price, The Collection is worth owning. There are hours of content in just the base games. And for PC players, the updates will help bring the original Bioshock into modern times as it has had issues with a lot of modern PCs and needed a lot of fixes making it playable. I may not be getting the console collection, but I will be replaying the PC version of Bioshock when the upgrades start rolling out.
