The Boston Festival of Indie Games, presented by MIT Game Lab and Boston Indies, announced  that it has recently launched its online Kickstarter campaign for the second annual festival, to be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 on the MIT campus. Boston Festival of Indie Games is for all ages, free and open to the public. Kickstarter link for Boston Festival of Indie Games can be found at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bostonfig/boston-festival-of-indie-games-2013.

A major feature of the festival’s debut crowd-funding effort is the Figgie Bundle, a special one-time-only Boston Festival of Indie Games indie game bundle, featuring six game titles and distributed by IndieGameStand, being offered as part of the Kickstarter reward levels. In addition, every Figgie Bundle sold pushes the Bonus Bar, visible at the top of their Kickstarter page, further and further along toward unlocking more games for all donors of $25 or above. Backers can do their part to help unlock all the secret, bonus content by getting in on the Figgie Bundle.

The custom game bundle offers six indie titles created by Boston-area indie game studios: Go Home Dinosaurs (Fire Hose Games), Fish Listening to Radio! (Popcannibal), Fieldrunners (Subatomic Studios), Easiest Video Game Ever (Dejobaan Games), Moonlight: Mistress of Mischief (Lantana Games) and Lost Marbles (Binary Takeover). Here are more details on each of the games and their creators…

Go Home Dinosaurs (Fire Hose Games)

Fire Hose Games is proud to present its newest game, Go Home Dinosaurs, the world’s greatest BBQ Defense Simulator! Keep your grill safe from marauding dinos with a huge variety of defenses in this 100{3a19833c997fa52158a43c449fe089ff048ac0506a335cac10721cfa396ff282} historically accurate (as far as we know) strategy game.

Fish Listening to Radio! (Popcannibal)

Popcannibal delighted the world with “Girls Like Robots,” the 13th highest rated iOS game of 2012. Fish Listening to Radio! is the game that Attack of the Show called “One of the most brilliant $1, four player experiences you can have”.  Fish Listening to Radio features a state-of-the-art ukulele sound track and super keen worm eating action.

Fieldrunners (Subatomic Studios)

Subatomic Studios’ award winning tower defense game, Fieldrunners, took the iPhone by storm, so we’re excited to be including a PC version in the BostonFIG Figgie Bundle!

Easiest Video Game Ever (Dejobaan Games)

It’s hot, but it is definitely not easy. Or is it easy? Dejobaan Games’ Easiest Video Game Everis a quick, fun first-person faller where you get close to buildings to kiss them for 100 points each. You can chain them for mad score. And if you’re angry, shoot down anything RED.

Moonlight: Mistress of Mischief (Lantana Games)

Follow the adventure as the main character ransacks her way through multiple castles. A classic puzzle game at first glance along the lines of Crusher or Pac Man, Moonlight also has stealth mechanics to up the challenge. Keep clear of guards, turrets, traps, and more.  Collect all the gems you can and find the way out of each room.

Lost Marbles (Binary Takeover)

Lost Marbles is a puzzle platformer with a goal is simply to get to the end of each level as fast as you can. Ever wish Blizzard’s SNES classic The Lost Vikings were done in 3D? Well this is the basic idea they had when making the game!

The Boston Festival of Indie Games indie game Figgie Bundle is being distributed by 2013 fest sponsor IndieGameStand, an emerging digital distributor of indie games. Launched in September 2012, IndieGameStand is a new, low-barrier of entry way for indie developers to promote their games and be included in a dynamic indie gaming bundle. IndieGameStand hand-selects every game that is offered on their online service.

Mike Kanarek, BostonFIG co-producer and programming co-chair, says, “We are working hard to meet the requests and expectations of our festival fans this year by expanding our physical event space, adding more categories of content, and bringing in high-profile speakers. This means our costs have increased quite a bit, so we felt that a well-promoted Kickstarter campaign could be an incredibly fruitful effort. Our goal is to raise $15,000, and to ideally even exceed this target.”

Other Kickstarter rewards for Boston Festival of Indie Games include VIP passes to the fest, a special art pack with game and concept art straight from the BostonFIG Art Gallery, pairs of tickets to the BostonFIG Concert at The Middle East in Cambridge, a one-of-a-kind BostonFIG tabletop game bundle, a collection of musical tracks from games featured at BostonFIG, high quality prints of every BostonFIG 2013 poster, and even a fest after-party drink named after top-tier pledgers! Complete reward details are available at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bostonfig/boston-festival-of-indie-games-2013.
