I have never played a sports game in my life! However while playing FIFA Soccer 13 for the Xbox and Vita it silenced all my doubts on why I wouldn’t like a sports game, and quite frankly I found myself enjoying it. You may be wondering what got me so hooked, and I think these three key features, Attacking Intelligence, HD Graphics, and game seasons might give you a sense of what I experienced in such a short time. This review will have two parts, the first part being FIFA 13 for PS Vita and the other being FIFA 13 for XBOX 360.

FIFA 13 Review – PS Vita

There is no question that FIFA 13 for PS Vita delivers a truly next-gen experience for the handheld device. This game may be optimized for mobile, but trust me it did not take away from the award-winning  game. It is defiantly comparable to console gameplay with its HD graphics and largest feature lineup ever created by EA SPORTS for a handheld device.

I find that FIFA for VITA is sometimes better than the XBOX 360 because of touch screen features like touch screen shooting and passing. You can tap a spot on the touch screen or the rear touch pad and your player will precisely shoot the ball into the goal or pass to a teammate. I found myself playing the game on my XBOX and wishing that it had those features. Another amazing feature that this game offers on the Vita is touch screen defending. You can simply take control of a defender by touching the defender, eliminating all the guess of auto switching. Touch screen free kick control is also very useful. You can use swiping gestures to get that winning shot whether it’s curling a shot around the wall or directly into the goal.

In career mode you can play or manage your team to victory. You can play as a real player or take advantage of the create your own pro feature. You can work your way up to player manager or manager while playing a 15 season career. You have the option to play with over 500 officially licensed clubs in 11 versus 11 matches in authentic stadiums from around the world. There is also tournament mode. In tournament mode you can compete in over 50 real-world tournaments from around the world.

Last but not least, we have the Be A Goalkeeper feature . Like EA Sports said:

Experience the thrill of the one-on-one battle, diving to make a save from a free kick, punching balls safely out of danger, and the pressure of keeping a clean sheet. Learn the position, track stats, complete achievements and test yourself against the best players in the virtual world.

FIFA 13 Review – Xbox 360/PlayStation 3

In FIFA 13 for XBOX 360, all new positioning intelligence “infuses” attacking players with the ability to analyse plays and position themselves to create new attacking opportunities, so much that I found myself at ease to get a goal in my first play through the game. Complete dribbling allows you to take on defenders to be more creative in attack. This allows you to have true 360 degree mobility with the ball will in a showdown with a defender. Physical play now allows defenders to use more methods to win back the ball, which include pushing and pulling and using their size and strength to force opponents into poor decisions.

In career mode you can compete for clubs that go international. Play or manage your favorite team to victory in both qualifying matches, and tournaments. You can also earn, buy, and trade players to build a team of the word’s best Football (aka soccer) stars.

I also recommend that you try out the new 2v2 ranked online matches where you and your friends battle (to the death!) in 10 game seasons, which can lead to promotion in the league division.  Perfecting your lineup and using tactics will “fine tune your Seasons experience.” What will also fine tune your FIFA gaming experience is the all new EA SPORTS Football Club Match Day.

Match Day feeds real-world news ripped from the headlines around the world into the game. Drama such as injuries, suspentions, team form, and media gossip will be reflected through in-game commentary and play out in-game. Real-world fixtures and upcoming clashes of your favorite club in the top leagues will enable fans to play right along with the beats of the season. Player form will change frequently, so players in form, or players struggling to keep form, will see their stats  change throughout the season based on their real-world performance. Plus, Games of the Week will highlight top global match-ups for fans to enjoy.
