Arrow is hurtling toward its 100th episode and a massive crossover with Supergirl, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Until then, Prometheus is deciding to be a serious thorn in Team Arrow’s side. Now that he has taken care of Tobias Church, Prometheus can focus completely on the Green Arrow.
Prometheus makes himself known in Star City and starts killing seemingly random people in cold blood. He kills them with a throwing star, which easily connects him to at least four murders in a very short time period. All of the usual tricks don’t seem to work when Felicity tries to figure out how these victims are related, so she looks to Curtis for help. Together, they find that the victims themselves don’t have anything in common, but their names are more important. The victims’ names are all anagrams for people from Oliver’s father’s book.
At this point, Oliver brings in the new recruits and lets them in on the Prometheus problem in their city. Oliver was trying to protect them by not putting them in harm’s way until they knew more about Prometheus, but they don’t see it that way. They are hurt that Oliver’s first instinct is to hide things from them. As if that weren’t bad enough, Oliver then had to explain his father’s list to them. He had to remind them that he was once a killer with a hit list. Rory was the first to pick up on Prometheus’s message; Oliver is the real serial killer here. Evelyn and Rene are the most upset, and they aren’t sure they can work with a serial killer.
The recruits get together outside of the original Arrow team to discuss their frustrations. They hate that information gets to them dead last. Now that Diggle is back, Original Team Arrow seems to come first. The recruits are once again on the outside looking in. Meanwhile, Oliver worries that he hasn’t changed after killing Darhk and a few of Church’s men to get Rene back. Prometheus knew what he was doing by taunting Oliver. Oliver has worked so hard to move forward, and Prometheus is just dredging up his past.
In the flashback scenes this week, we saw Anatoly teaching Oliver a new skill, bomb making. Oliver is frustrated because he’s not very good at it. He’s also bored, but Anatoly reminds him that Bratva spend their off hours learning lots of trades. Oliver needs to be a sponge and absorb everything. While they are learning their bomb making, Konstantin Kovar declares war against the Bratva. The Bratva decides to use Oliver’s “outsider-ness†as an advantage. Oliver goes undercover acting as if he wants to invest in Kovar’s new club. His plan backfires, and Oliver finds himself face to face with Konstantin Kovar (played by the brilliant Dolph Lundgren). Kovar has been looking forward to meeting Oliver, and we know that killing Kovar is Oliver’s endgame in the Bratva. Just how will this meeting end?
Now that they know Prometheus’s goal, Felicity and Curtis come up with a handful of potential next victims. Everyone splits up, and Prometheus is at Evelyn’s target. Thankfully, Oliver gets there in time to save her, and she feels bad for being a jerk to him. Oliver tells her that he’s sorry that he’s not the man that she thought he was and asks for Evelyn to have patience while he gets where he wants to be. For now, Prometheus is still in the wind, but Felicity did find one lead.
Felicity managed to steal one of Prometheus’s throwing stars from her boyfriend’s desk. Poor Detective Billy Malone; he has no idea who he’s dating. Billy is getting very frustrated with Felicity’s lies, so she breaks down and tells him that she works for the Green Arrow. He’s completely stunned and actually seems horrified that she’s a criminal. Then he says that she’s saving the city and has about a million questions. It’s all pretty adorable, and I think Billy just might stick around for awhile longer.
When Felicity tests the throwing stars, she realizes something huge. Prometheus has been melting down Oliver’s arrows and making them into his stars. The only way he could be doing this is if he worked for the SCPD. Back when Evelyn was fighting Prometheus, she sliced open his arm. At the end of the episode, Quentin had a very suspicious looking wound on his arm. Is there a chance that Quentin could be Prometheus? We believe that he never stopped drinking, so is there really a way that a drunk could be Prometheus? Or does Quentin really have everyone fooled? If not, who could it be? Is Prometheus trying to frame Quentin?
