The Lego movie was a rousing success for WB, but the highlight of the entire movie had to be Will Arnett voicing Batman. He did such a great job of mimicking Christian Bale and poking fun at the character that WB is fast tracking a solo Lego Batman movie. The movie will, more than likely, be taking The Lego Movie 2’s release date. So, it is possible that we will see The Lego Batman movie on May 26, 2017, pushing back the original The Lego Movie 2 to the next year.
The Lego properties are absolutely exploding at the current moment. The Lego Movie was a runaway success, and easily warrants a sequel in itself, which it is getting. With a ton of video games amongst a large variety of properties, from The Lord Of The Rings to the big two comic book companies, it only reinforces the behemoth that is the Lego Franchise.
Will Arnett will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader and Chris McKay, who was penned to lead The Lego Movie 2, will move onto The Lego Batman movie. Seth Grahame-Smith will be writing and authoring the film. Since we may never see a live-action Justice League of America movie, we may have to settle for the Lego variety. It’s basically a given that WB will try to shoe-in as many cameos from the DC universe to try to see what sticks, thus creating the next Lego Batman.
