Put your pitchfork down and step away from the PC. Microsoft has sent out an internal email synopsis killing all rumors that the new Xbox will require players to be always connected online.
“Durango [the codename for the next Xbox] is designed to deliver the future of entertainment while engineered to be tolerant of today’s Internet.”. Â “There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should ‘just work’ regardless of their current connection status. Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single player game.”
In this day in age console development is catered towards those who have the networking functionality to bring new experiences to the table, we’re sure Microsoft has developed for this but perhaps the communist restriction of “always-online” was always a rumor and shall disintegrate as an incorrect rumor. The environment of the new Xbox, we can assume, will certainly be beneficial to those of us that can sustain an internet connection with the emphasis on cloud connectivity in all modern technology these days.
