Lucifer is still feeling paranoid about his mother’s arrival on Earth. Even though she seems confused and afraid, he’s still not buying it. Chloe and Dan continue to struggle with their new work arrangement, and Linda and Amenadiel have a heart to heart.
Lucifer’s mom is here and takes Lucifer through her first moments on Earth. She woke up with a screwdriver in the back of her neck. Lucifer doesn’t want to believe her wounded bird act and asks her to retrace her steps. In the hotel room where she was stabbed, they find another body. So Lucifer does the only logical thing; he goes to the precinct and waits for it to get called in to Chloe to investigate.
Lucifer asks for Maze to babysit his mother while he investigates with Chloe. Maze isn’t too happy, but she does it anyway. Although Lucifer said not to hurt his mother, Maze gets out her tools for torture. Maze could never break her while she was in hell, but she’s willing to keep trying. His mother says that she didn’t deserve to be punished which is why she never broke in hell. Of course just as Maze thinks she’s about to break Lucifer’s mother, she gets the upper hand and escapes.

Meanwhile, Lucifer and Chloe find out that Lucifer’s mother is in the body of a woman named Charlotte, who is the owner of a law firm. Charlotte was helping the FBI bring down the cartel, but that wasn’t what killed her. Charlotte was having an affair with one of her associates and promoted him because of it. Naturally, one of her other associates was envious and tried to kill her.
Chloe came in before Lucifer killed the associate going after his mother, and the good guys saved the day again. At one point, Charlotte sees Lucifer watching Chloe. His admiration for her is written all over his face. I’m not sure how Charlotte’s going to feel knowing her son has feelings for a human. Charlotte tries to explain to Lucifer, “Doing what’s best for your child. It doesn’t always make them happy.†He doesn’t seem to care.
Later, Charlotte reveals that she’s the one who sent Lucifer to Hell. She claims that she did it to save his life. According to Charlotte, his father wanted to destroy Lucifer, so she asked that he send Lucifer to Hell instead. I’m not sure what Lucifer is going to do with his mother, but so far she seems to be genuine. She tells Lucifer, “I want what your father took from me. I want my home back, but I know that’s not possible. So I want to do what I can to be a good mother to you here.“

Amenadiel is having some trouble these days. In the premiere episode, we saw Amenadiel losing control over his powers. This week he’s trying to figure out why. Linda finds Amenadiel in his office. Of course, Linda gives him an earful about how selfish he is for tricking her into thinking he was a psychiatrist. She tells Amenadiel that he needs to think of others rather than just himself.
Amenadiel later apologizes to Linda. He knows that he has much to atone for. It seems that he’s just distracted by his condition. At the end, we see Amenadiel is really struggling. He tries to open his wings, but they are in bad shape. It appears that his wings are dying. What once were beautiful full white wings are now just a mess. Is Amenadiel becoming human? Has he just been on Earth for too long? Or is he somehow being punished?
