Hows it going gamers? Recently I got my hands on the game “Painkiller: Hell and Damnation” which is a remake of the original Painkiller game. The game made by developers “The Farm 51” and published by “Nordic Games”, is a wave based FPS using the Unreal 3 engine that was released on Steam. At its higher settings is a decent looking game for its $20 USD price but I feel the menu’s and graphics are still a little outdated. The game’s story is about a man who was promised to get his wife back as long as he worked for the legions of heaven and hell but instead gets sent into purgatory. He is approached by a character resembling the Grim Reaper and promised again to get his wife back as long as he collects the souls of demons. The small narrative gives you a reason to almost mindlessly fight through the hordes of monsters they send at you.Painkiller includes a variety of weapons that are unlike weapons seen in most games these days which all include primary and secondary fire. Each level has different sections of the map where you must kill all the monsters thrown at you. At the end of each map there is a boss that you must defeat as monster waves are still coming at you. Though the game, sends a couple of twists your way, the playstyle to me seems pretty linear. If you’re a fan of wave style gameplay like Black Ops Zombies then I would recommend this game to you. Painkiller HD was released on pc in October and will be released for Xbox and PS3 on January 22, 2013.
