A new masked man has come to save Star City, and Team Arrow must come together to stop him in “Vigilante.†Oliver questions his effectiveness as both Mayor and the Green Arrow. Quentin Lance woke up with a gash on his arm and a throwing star on his coffee table. Considering he has been blacking out from his excessive drinking, what is really going on?
After a few bad guys from a human trafficking ring are found dead and strung up outside of SCPD, Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow know that they have a problem. Although no one can argue that these guys were scum bags, this isn’t the way to go about getting justice. The new recruits continue to question why they would even go after the Vigilante, but he keeps leaving dead bodies in his wake and doesn’t seem to care if some of those were innocent people. Oliver reminds them that they didn’t think they could handle that Oliver used to play judge, jury, and executioner. So why are they okay with the Vigilante? Oliver says that they can’t have it both ways.
Oliver wonders if this Vigilante is out there because he hasn’t been getting his job done both as the Green Arrow and as the Mayor. When he comes face to face with the Vigilante, the masked man says that if Team Arrow isn’t with him, then they are against him. He says that the city is out of control, and the Green Arrow hasn’t been enough to save it. With the way that the new DA was grilling their bank robber suspect, I would bet my money on Adrian Chase as the Vigilante. For now, he will have to remain a mystery.
Quentin Lance has had a rough time so far this season. Thea is doing everything she can to keep him on track and give meaning to his life, but Lance doesn’t seem to care. He never stopped drinking and continually lied to Thea about it, but she won’t give up on him. When Lance resigns as Deputy Mayor, Thea decides to get to the bottom of his addiction problems. Lance reveals that he has been blacking out when he drinks, and he has lost time. He shows Thea the throwing star and the gash on his arm, and she knows that he can’t possibly be Prometheus.
Lance feels terrible that Thea is worrying so much about him, and he says that he doesn’t deserve it. Thea reminds him that he’s like family to them. Thea takes Lance to a rehab facility. She lets him know that he can beat this, and now is exactly the right time to get clean. She even gives him some hope reminding him that his job as Deputy Mayor will be there when he’s better. It’s clear that Lance is being targeted by Prometheus, and one possibility as to why is not good news for Team Arrow. Lance wonders if the reason that he is being targeted is because Prometheus knows that Oliver is the Green Arrow. We know that Prometheus knows, but maybe he always knew even before Tobias Church.
The final scene is where we get to see Prometheus once again. He meets with Evelyn while she in in full Artemis getup. At first, I was worried that she was being targeted by Prometheus, but then she smiles. She lets Prometheus know that no one suspects a thing. So I guess she has been working with Prometheus the entire time. We definitely saw that Prometheus always seemed to be one step ahead of Team Arrow, but there was no way to suspect that he had a mole inside the team. I’m frustrated that Evelyn isn’t actually one of the good guys, and it makes me wonder even more who Prometheus could possibly be. Any good theories out there?
The flashback took us back to the Bratva and Konstantin Kovar. Last we knew, Kovar had Oliver captured and was ready to torture him. Kovar makes Oliver sit down to dinner, and his housekeeper comes by. She’s very sweet to Kovar, and they seem to have a great relationship. That’s when Oliver finds out that Taiana is her daughter. Kovar also had some revelations about the Bratva. He says that the Bratva only had Oliver kill that man in the prison so they could take his business. It didn’t actually have anything to do with Kovar. Kovar says that he and the Bratva have reached an agreement, and the Bratva is only using Oliver. He gives Oliver something to think about when he keeps repeating, “Truth is a matter of perspective.â€
