nVidia, like many other companies are starting to see potential within the Android and PC platforms for gaming, especially with the emerging power of mobile processors created but who other than themselves. Their newest innovation Project Shield is an Android based mobile console that doesn’t necessarily fit in your pocket, but offers a full console experience on the go. Project Shield runs on nVidia’s Tegra 4 processor which is a quad-core chip that is supplemented by their cutting edge developments in mobile GPUs. The mold of Project Shield consists of a 720p multi-touch display that rests on a full Xbox esque gamepad. Android Jellybean is the OS that powers the console, making it immediately compatible with a suite of games; the device also features PC connectivity especially for custom PC builders using GeForce GTX graphics. Currently Project Shield is being previewed at CES, we’ll be sure to have impressions of the device once we get hands-on.
