DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Pilot, Part 2 is here and, as most second parts go, it’s definitely better than the first half. Two-parters are always uneven, but I’m glad they capitalize on it here. I hate to use a hyperbolic statement, let alone one that relates it to a film, but the first big scene reminded me so much of the first scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Part of the group is at an arms deal in hopes of finding a lead on where Savage could possibly be. They figured he would be a buyer of an atom bomb, but lo and behold he was actually the seller. Damien Darhk was also in attendance. The group is found out quickly and all hell breaks loose when Savage says that whoever kills them will get a 25{3a19833c997fa52158a43c449fe089ff048ac0506a335cac10721cfa396ff282} savings on the atomic weapon. The sound of Heatwave’s fire gun and Captain Cold’s ice gun swooshing and buzzing about while the camera pans around the hectic scene was awesome. Add in White Canary chopping fools down with her staff, Atom flying out of Stein’s pocket and finally Firestorm containing and absorbing the atomic bomb? Such an awesome sequence.

While the group did hold their own, Savage of course got away and Palmer lost a piece of his tech. This initially wouldn’t be a big deal, except for the fact that that technology doesn’t exist for another 40 years or so. So now they must go on a wild goose chase to find a device created by a much younger Stein. The device will help to locate Palmer’s tech.

Since it is the 70s, the clothing was groovy, and Stein was quite the pot head. It was great seeing the elder Stein all uptight about his former self, and the way his younger self was flirting with White Canary was hilarious. They eventually get the device but not without the usual time travel issues. Younger Stein follows them and found the Waverunner and thus nearly missed the mixer where he meets his eventual wife. Luckily, Rip Hunter convinced him to go so the timeline wasn’t messed up too badly, or so we think. They finally find Palmer’s device, and White Canary takes a very hands on approach. She’s incredibly fun to watch, especially when she is partnered with the well thought out Stein.

Atom, Heatwave and Captain Cold have some nice scenes together as they have to try to steal the dagger that Hawkman gave to Hawkgirl centuries ago in hopes of using it to kill Savage. The trio are quite comedic when trying to break in, and naturally they are caught. And guess whose house they broke into… you guessed it, Savage’s house.

This leads to another amazing fight sequence with some dire consequences. I’ve been kind of down on Savage since technically they did kill him, just not with the dagger. But he really does fit into the universe. He’s… well, Savage. He has an intense battle with Hawkman and Hawkgirl and actually does one of them in while the other narrowly escapes. I don’t want to sound pessimistic, but I’m glad a hero finally died, even though I’m guessing that he will be back within an episode or two.

WHAT IS DUAL PIXELS?

Dual Pixels is more than just an organization, it's a culture. The interactive arts are our passion, this includes gaming and innovations brought forward with technology. The beauty of being an independent organization is the fact that we have the opportunity to bring back the enthusiasm in a gaming industry which is becoming increasingly corporate and stale. The Dual Pixels brand is full of perspective hence the reason why we also go by the appellation "The Digital Crossover".
