Scorpion brought a seriously intense episode with “This is the Pits.†A harrowing incident at the LaBrea Tar Pits calls Team Scorpion to the scene. Ralph and Veronica spend some quality time together, for better or worse. And, Tim gets some bad news.
Team Scorpion is called in when a woman accidentally drives her car into the LaBrea Tar Pits. The car sinks and is engulfed by tar. For anyone who hasn’t been to the LaBrea Tar Pits, the history behind them is pretty scary. These tar pits engulfed wooly mammoths and other massive, strong animals. I can’t imagine if this were to happen in real life. Thankfully, this is Scorpion, and your favorite geniuses are here to save the day.
When they try to get the car out with the woman, Beth, inside, the car starts to become compromised. They just can’t shake it loose and bring it up through the tar. The only way to get Beth out is to go in and manually wrap the cables around the car. Leave it to Walter to be the hero again. They fashion a suit that will last long enough for Walter to get to Beth without the tar disintegrating it. One thing leads to another, and Walter has to risk his life to save Beth. All in a day’s work with Scorpion. I have to say, watching this episode made me have to catch my breath a few times.

Ralph has been getting to know his Grandmother, Veronica. Paige is still uncertain about her mother sticking around, but she’s willing to give her mom another chance. What she doesn’t know is that Ralph used to write Veronica while she was in prison. Ralph is just excited that this is his chance to get to know his Grandma and maybe learn more about his mother’s childhood.
Ralph needs to sell cookies for his school, and Veronica decides to use her “business†mind to help him out. Veronica shows Ralph how to “scam hipsters†into buying cookie ice cream sandwiches. They made a surplus of money, but the whole time, Ralph just wanted to know more about his mother. Veronica tries to give Ralph his share of the profits from their business, but he doesn’t want the money. He knows a con when he sees one. He’s completely disappointed in his Grandma, which clearly hurts Veronica’s feelings. Veronica knows that she wasn’t a good mom and is trying to do better.

Speaking of Veronica, she’s still trying to break up Paige and Tim. Tim was honorably discharged from the Navy after he failed his physicals. Unfortunately for him, this means that he is out of the Seals and the Navy effective immediately. A friend offers Tim a new job in Oman doing security as a private contractor. This only strengthens Tim’s resolve in wanting to stay with Team Scorpion. While Paige is excited about the news, this is not going to go over well with Walter and Veronica.
Walter has been using Veronica’s advice to try and win Paige over, but it isn’t working as well as he wants. Finally, Walter realizes that Paige would be extremely upset if she knew he were conning her into falling in love with him, so he decides to stop. Of course, this only makes Veronica want him to be with her daughter even more. She wishes Walter good luck since Tim is planting roots. If Tim truly does leave Team Scorpion, what will happen? Is Walter ready to be with Paige?
