CD Projekt RED has just released a gameplay-focused trailer for their latest venture into the world of The Witcher, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. When the furor of how amazing The Witcher 3 died down a bit, the next question was when in the world are we going to be getting a standalone Gwent game. Luckily, we got just that last year. A Free-to-Play card game based off the one in The Witcher 3 of which we could never get enough. It quelled our thirst to dive deeper into The Witcher universe, but there is always, always room for more. Alas, CDPR is preparing the latest RPG title set in The Witcher universe with Gwent combat. What’s not to like?
As laid out in the press release, the latest title was “…Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge. Throughout the game, players will explore new and never-before-seen parts of The Witcher world, embark on thought-provoking quests featuring rich, multidimensional characters. All while gathering resources to expand their army and engaging in epic story battles.â€
It’s hard not to like what they are offering. CDPR is one of the best devs at delivering what fans love, while going that extra mile. Look for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales to release October 23rd on PC via GOG, following a console release (PS4 & Xbox One) on December 4th.
