Chloe went through an emotional rollercoaster in the latest episode of Lucifer. We always knew that Chloe’s dad was a cop, and she followed in his footsteps following his death. He was tragically murdered by a man robbing a convenience store. Now, his killer, who has been a model prisoner, gets to get out for a little bit to see his granddaughter’s christening.
When Chloe realizes that the man who murdered her father, Joe Field, is getting out even if it’s only for a short period of time, she’s furious. She ends up following his transport and finds that he was murdered. Great, now she looks like the prime suspect. Of course, Lucifer is just excited to get a new case, but Chloe doesn’t want him to help. She just can’t handle Lucifer being himself. Well Lucifer has been at his lowest lately, so he realizes that maybe it’s time for a change. Lucifer decides to channel Dan, since he does nothing but say and do the right things when it comes to Chloe.
We know Lucifer, and he goes all out in everything he does. He says that people find Dan helpful, like duct tape, so he wants Dan to teach him his ways. Lucifer shows up the next day dressed head to toe exactly like Dan; he even parts his hair the same. After Joe Fields is killed, his daughter, Tina, shows up at Chloe’s door threatening her with a gun. She claims that her father was innocent of her father’s murder based on a video he sent to her upon his death. Chloe finds evidence that she’s right, so now, her father’s killer has been free this whole time.
They find a suspect very easily, and he admits to the murder right away. He seems to have some of the facts but not all of them. It’s clear that he’s confessing to a crime that he did not commit, and Joe Fields did the same thing all those years ago. With Dan and Lucifer working together, they find that the warden of the prison has been offering money in exchange for people to confess to crimes they didn’t commit. Chloe’s father was snooping in the warden’s business and getting too close, so the warden had him killed. In the end, the warden was caught, and justice will be served.
Surprisingly Dan and Lucifer didn’t do a terrible job working together. At one point, they have to pretend they want someone dead and need a patsy to confess to the crime. Lucifer pretends to be Dan and says that he needs Lucifer Morningstar dead. He explains that Lucifer only seems to hurt those closest to him, and the world would be a better place without him. Lucifer also found out that Dan has been poking fun at Lucifer in an improv class. Lucifer says that he only ever made fun of Dan because Dan is everything that he isn’t. Dan reminds Lucifer that from his perspective, Lucifer’s life is so easy. I think they both got some much needed perspective on the other while working this case.
Linda is still having a tough time knowing the truth. In the beginning of the show, Lucifer warned that humans shouldn’t know the truth because they just can’t handle it. Linda is completely terrified. Maze goes to see her, but Linda tries to keep Maze out. Maze realizes that she knows, but she explains that she’s still the same person. Linda doesn’t understand how she could be friends with a demon. Maze asks if being a demon is really that bad, but Linda just asks her to go. Maze is upset that Lucifer could be so selfish and not think about how this would affect her friendship with Linda.
Maze is still struggling trying to find her true purpose here in Los Angeles. She has slowly been distancing herself from Lucifer, but now she needs to get a job. She had an interview to be a preschool aid, and even Trixie can tell that’s not the right fit for her. Maze finds her calling when she brings in the warden for Chloe. She was just bored and trying to do something nice, but little did she know she can get paid to do this. Meet Maze, bounty hunter. She’s so excited that she goes to talk with Linda again. Linda is still terrified, but Maze convinces her to go get a drink. Hopefully Linda can come around again.
