The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are having a resurgence in the gaming world! The beat ‘em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge released to rave reviews. The three of us at Dual Pixels absolutely loved it. It was harkening back to the “old days’ ‘ of playing TMNT beat ‘em ups, even if the developer and publisher were different. But, with how great it was, it only partially scratched that itch. Well, Konami is bringing back all that nostalgia with the Cowabunga Collection.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection features 13 TMNT games released by Konami from the 80s and 90s. If you have been chomping at the bit to try them out, you’re in luck… if you are going to San Diego Comic Con.
Attendees will be able to stop by the Turtle Lair Gaming Lounge to get a taste of the Cowabunga Collection. In addition, Konami’s Charles Murakami, Digital Eclipse’s Chris Kohler and TMNT Co-Creator Kevin Eastman will be on-hand for a meet and greet.
For those with a badge for SDCC, be sure to be one of the first 500 people on Thursday at the lounge to participate in giveaways which include a limited-edition print from Kevin Eastman himself!
The party doesn’t end there, either! Konami is hosting the TMNT Cowabunga Collection Panel on July 22 from 3:15 – 4:15 PM to discuss the franchise’s past and present.
You, like us, were probably like “Whoa Dude… that’s a lot of Turtles.” Indeed. Thankfully here is a nifty trailer to sum things up for the gaming side of things:
