I gathered a few impressions from our editors here at Dual Pixels this is what they had to say about Microsoft’s latest console, the Xbox ONE. Here’s what some of us had to say. A few of our fans on Facebook shared their brief impressions, which you can also  check out below.

For starters: The name. I thought Wii U was a corny name for a new system but Xbox One is actually insulting. The only silver lining was Call of Duty Ghosts. It is going to take a lot more then temporary DLC to convince players.
While the Xbox has a reputation of being the haven for the shooter fan, especially with its renowned gamepad, it isn’t enough to sway me. As for all the other bells and whistles, I didn’t find anything incredibly impressive. A new UI is fine but it’s core role is to be a gaming system. Not a multimedia center. Unless Microsoft pulls something simply earth shattering at E3, this system is effectively dead in the water.”[/author_info] [/author]
[author] [author_image timthumb=’on’]http://dualpix1ls.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Daniel-Vogt.jpeg[/author_image] [author_info]Dan (News Editor): “When I had money to buy a console, I decided to pick up a PS3 Slim because a) all of my friends had Xbox, b) it seemed foolish to pay for internet connectivity, and c) Blu-ray. When Sony unveiled the PS4 in February, I was impressed but not sold. But after Microsoft’s Xbox One reveal on Tuesday, I was officially sold…on a PS4. There’s still plenty we don’t know about both consoles, like the price tag, that could easily tip the scales either way, but the only new things about the Xbox One are not enough to pique my interest. What is new about it? A more responsive operating system and an updated controller? I was impressed with the updated Kinect on Tuesday, but after watching a movie with my roommate last night and repeatedly telling the Xbox to ignore our conversation.
I was reminded why I don’t feel much compassion for the Kinect in the first place. And yet, screaming “XBOX, GO HOME,” and the Xbox obeying is an oddly satisfying feeling. E3 is yet to come, but I believe the Xbox One may be the tipping point between the console wars and the PC wars. Microsoft  unveiled the all-in-one living room entertainment system, something Sony and Nintendo have also been trying to do, but Microsoft knows full well that the average gamer is not the only one interested in premium home entertainment.”[/author_info] [/author]
[author] [author_image timthumb=’on’]http://dualpix1ls.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/NewSitesDefault.jpg[/author_image] [author_info]Brandon (Editor-in-Chief):” Microsoft promoted May 21st as a date where we’d see the future of Xbox, a gaming console that delivered the most revenue in this pre-next gen industry. We may not agree that Xbox provided a platform where cutting edge technology met creativity, however it was a platform nonetheless that was reputable amongst gamers for what it did. On that day Microsoft presented us with Xbox One, the universal remote that plays video games. Your used games are dead, your LAN tournaments are dead, and you always are Kinect-ed to a camera most gamers couldn’t possibly care-less about. One paragraph isn’t enough to show to disparity between Microsoft and you. It’s utterly repulsive to think that Major Nelson, Xbox community manager and leading enthusiast of the Xbox brand, had the audacity to cite Sony not having the physical and finalized form factor of the PlayStation 4 console when in-fact Microsoft revealed a gaming console and didn’t play a video game within the hour they spoke about it.
Perhaps they were too tired from hailing Kinect to “snap†Skype video calls and movie trailers while we watched 2012 NBA season reruns. The first titles shown were a suite of 3rd party EA Sports games, which should have raised a red flag in everyone’s mind immediately. As a slap in the face to gamers, the newest iteration of the console you used to enjoy, Xbox One, may be the most anti-consumer product in Microsoft’s history.”[/author_info] [/author]

Yeah they showed a couple of games like Forza and COD but I expected that. Things like Quantum Break had me excited about the possibilities with Kinect but exactly how many are going for this type of appeal. Besides that as someone who watches less TV then ever, I thought the focus on all this entertainment stuff was rather dumb .
Yes the non gamers will eat it up but there’s a lot of questions that still haven’t been answered like” always online” no used games. Not one solid answer was given to these question. If that’s the way Microsoft wants to treat gamers the earliest adopters of a gaming console with anti consumer practices then they have another thing coming. Aside from that I don’t rule out the Xbox one but its going to have a very hard time convincing me after Microsoft building great foundation blocks for us gamers.[/author_info] [/author]

They didn’t even do it right. Was it even a gaming console? We hardcore gamers don’t care about the Kinect or the TV features, we only care about the GAMES. They didn’t even show any actual gameplay, just plain video graphics. Halo TV series, what does that gotta do with video games? I barely watch any TV, and I find it boring. The PS4 did it right with the conference. Showing games and the features using the games with it. Skype? Wow we already got that on our laptop or phones. We got Dish, Direct TV, etc. to watch our favorite programs. And why wait until E3 to show us the games.. Sony didn’t have to wait for anything. Nintendo was right about not doing an HUGE E3 this year. Sports games? COME ON, just go outside and do those kind of sports. LOL don’t get me started on Call of Duty: Ghost.”[/author_info] [/author]

They have said that E3 will be laden with games, but the internet seems to give about 0 fuchs… I will hold judgement until after E3 is said and done. Sony is going to be guilty of a few things as well, just not as many. Then there is the controller, and for that alone I will get the One, but might also get a PS4… I don’t know yet.”[/author_info] [/author]
