Adrian Chase is on the loose now that his secret is out, and Star City knows he’s Prometheus. Team Arrow is at a loss on how to find Chase, but Felicity is willing to do whatever it takes. That means working with Helix.
Chase leads Argus and Team Arrow to an arcade, which is obviously a trap. When they get there, there is no sign of Chase, and booby traps are set up all over the place. Even though surveillance showed Chase entering the building and never leaving, it didn’t show that there was a secret tunnel where he escaped. Now, it’s time for a different approach, and Felicity is sure that Helix can help.
Felicity goes to her Helix ally, Alena, and asks for help finding Chase. Alena asks Felicity to break into Argus’s database, so they have all of the information that the government organizations do. Alena wonders if Chase has someone inside Argus. How else would he always be one step ahead?
When an Argus agent winds up dead, it’s clear that Helix is behind it. Felicity thought that Chase was just covering his tracks and killing the agent he had inside, but then Felicity saw the code that hacked the elevator, which was used to kill the Argus agent. The agent’s security key was taken, so what is Helix planning?
Felicity goes to confront Alena, and she said it was an accident. The Argus agent wasn’t supposed to die, but apparently there’s a learning curve for knocking someone out using an elevator. She says that Argus is holding one of their people hostage, Caden James. He’s the best hacker they’ve ever had, and now they need to find a way to get him back. James was working on a scanner that could detect a heartbeat from anywhere in the world. With this technology, Felicity and Team Arrow could find Chase no matter where he’s hiding. And just like that, Felicity knows that she has to do whatever it takes to get James to give her that technology.
Helix is ready to go after James, but they aren’t exactly ones who are known for getting their hands dirty. They hire mercenaries, and the plan is set in motion to rescue James. Felicity tries to negotiate with Argus and asks Lyla to release James. Lyla says that they will never give up James, so Felicity sides with Helix. She knows that Oliver has done morally questionable things in the past to protect Star City and his loved ones. Now, it’s Felicity’s turn.
Oliver tries to talk Felicity into standing down. Diggle thinks Oliver is the only one who could bring Felicity back from the edge, but Felicity is willing to do whatever it takes this time. She tells Oliver that this is their only chance to get to Chase. She has watched Oliver do whatever it took to save the city for four years. He knows that, and he knows that she has seen the toll it has taken on Oliver. Felicity is willing to take the burden this time and asks that he let her do this, or else they will have to stop her.
Argus and Team Arrow are ready for Helix, but something’s wrong. Helix doesn’t end up coming to the Argus facility. Instead, they are 12 miles away at an illegal Argus black site, where Caden James is actually being held. The Arrow team gets there too late, and Helix gets away with James, with a little help from Felicity. Felicity puts herself between the Arrow team and the Helix team in order to let them get away.
In the end, Felicity goes to see her newfound friends at Helix, but what used to be their headquarters is empty. Alena comes on the screen and tells Felicity that they can’t have her be a part of Helix anymore. Felicity’s connection to the Green Arrow makes her a liability. Could this also have something to do with Caden James? Does Felicity know who he is? James left Felicity a present, the code to track down Chase. Felicity goes to the Arrow bunker to track Chase, and she discovers that he’s there with her and Oliver. Now what?
Meanwhile, Rene and Quentin are working to handle things in the mayor’s office, and Quentin asks Rene about his daughter. Rene isn’t ready to see his daughter, but Quentin decides not to listen to him. Quentin arranges to have Zoe come see her father, and it gives Rene a newfound courage. Even though Zoe was hurt the last time he was with her, he realizes that he’s willing to fight for her. I hope this is one story that can have a happy ending.
