Marvel’s Tiger Division gets their own series this week with the first issue in stores now. Tiger Division was brought to life by writer Emily Kim, artist Creees Lee, color artist Yen Nitro, and Letterer Ariana Maher. Tiger Division is a group of South Korean heroes from the National Intelligence Service. The team is led by Director Ami Han, also known as White Fox. Each of the characters are introduced as they save a riverside park of people from certain disaster.

As per Marvel comics, each superhero is described as follows:
“Taegukgi: the powerhouse who packs a punch
Lady Bright: a card-wielding sorcerer
Mr. Enigma: a street-brawling demigod
The General: a living totem
Gun-R II: a fast-talking robot
Luna Snow: a cryokinetic pop star
Together, they are the Tiger Division”
The first few pages show just a taste of each character’s powers, while they work to put out a fire on a ship and prevent it from crashing against the shore, where people are enjoying a nice day at the park. Taegukgi, also known as Tae-won, is the last character introduced and the final straw that saves the day when he prevents the ship from crashing.
So far, we’ve really only gotten a feel for Tae-won as a character. Tae-won also has a new outfit in this series, designed by artist Creees Lee. He’s seeing someone from his past, a ghost. The man tells Tae-won that he has to be free of his secrets, and the worst is still to come. Presumably, this is what White Fox is about to bring to the Tiger Division, when she arrives with a new mission. I’m already enjoying the fun interactions between the team and can’t wait for more.
The first issue of Tiger Division leaves South Korea’s heroes in a bind. Writer Emily Kim is sure to take us through an adventure, just like she did with Silk. This series is great if you’re looking for something new and extraordinary.
