That’s right. Mortal Kombat returns in its 10th iteration next year. Today, NetherRealm announced Mortal Kombat X with a graphically intense and slightly gory trailer with Sub-Zero and Scorpion throwing down with their hands, ice, and rope darts. The series’ creator, Ed Boon, confirmed that Mortal Kombat X will include new characters, game modes, and graphics engine (which I’m sure we just got a peak at in the trailer below). One highly touted element of the game are the “persistent online contests” where all your match’s stats are recorded, and variations for each character’s fighting style are available. Capcom has done this within the Street Fighter IV series, however we can give NetherRealm a thumbs up for including it from the beginning instead of releasing it as paid DLC. We should also get excited for what lies in store for us within the game’s story mode, as the 2011 Mortal Kombat had one of the best campaigns in fighting game history.
Mortal Kombat X will be coming to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in 2015. Check out the awesome trailer below featuring Wiz Khalifa’s track Can’t Be Stopped.
