Among the many announcements at today’s Pokémon press conference were Pokémon Home and Pokémon Sleep.
Pokémon Home is the new way to transfer Pokémon coming in 2020. Home will let players link the 3DS Pokémon Bank to Pokémon Go, Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee, and the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield. The app will use a cloud based system that will allow users to access their boxes via the Nintendo Switch or through a mobile app on iOS and Android devices. Users can use the app to trade with other users without having to launch the game. Home will also allow transfers from Bank, Go, Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee, but will not allow the Pokémon to travel back. Only “forward” to Sword & Shield.
Also announced was Pokémon Sleep. Sleep will track users’ sleeping habits which will have an effect on the game. How sleeping plays a part in the Pokémon Go experience is not known yet. What is known is the tracking will be done with a new peripheral called the Pokémon GO Plus + (Plus Plus). Pokémon Sleep is being developed by Select Button and the sleep tracking is being done in partnership with Nintendo.
In addition, to help promote the title, Snorlax has begun popping up in Pokémon Go.
Both Pokémon Home and Pokémon Sleep will be available in 2020.
