Mp1st is reporting that they have received confirmation that the next entry in the Call of Duty series is code named ‘Blacksmith’. Furthermore, the Sledgehammer-developed sequel will be officially unveiled at some point in May. The source of the confirmation was not disclosed, and the evidence they gave was based on the marketing patterns of previous titles. Both ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Black Ops 2’ were revealed in May of 2013 and 2012 respectively.
What gives some credence to this rumor is the fact that an image, featured highly detailed character models, was shown on screens during this year’s GDC, which was the first hint as to the next Call of Duty’s existence.
Conjecture or not, I don’t think Activision and Sledgehammer can wait too long as they need to purge the sour taste left in many gamers’ mouths after the mediocre quality of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
