It has been two weeks since Lucifer disappeared without a word to his loved ones. Everyone is upset, including Charlotte, Amenadiel, and Chloe. But, when Chloe gets a new case, Lucifer shows up unannounced and is ready to go back to business as usual.
We first see Lucifer making some shady looking deal. The man tells Lucifer that it isn’t going to be cheap, but Lucifer puts a big bag of cash on the table. Clearly, money is not an issue. The man just hands Lucifer a briefcase and says that it’s his funeral. This mystery has not yet been solved; what could it possibly be?
Chloe gets a new case when the front man of a band called The Heavy Woolies is murdered. Chloe is upset that Lucifer just took off, but she is moving on. That is, until Lucifer shows up at the precinct unannounced. The kicker? He’s not alone. In walks a scantily clad woman named Candy Morningstar, Lucifer’s wife. Lucifer says that he went to Vegas to blow off some steam and married Candy, an exotic dancer. Chloe tries to explain that his leaving has nothing to do with vacation hours; she thought they were friends. Lucifer makes it abundantly clear that they are just friends, nothing more.
The bandmates of the murder victim, Ash, tell Chloe that they need to talk with his ex wife, Courtney. Courtney has a solid alibi, but she gives them a new suspect, their divorce mediator. Somehow Ash got all of her money in the divorce. The mediator was already biased against her before she even started talking with him.
Lucifer thinks that he and Chloe can still be partners, but she doesn’t want him around. She says that he let her down, and what good is a partner if she can’t depend on him. The mediator is smart enough not to talk to them; he is a lawyer after all. This is Lucifer’s chance to prove himself useful to Chloe and the investigation. Lucifer suggests that he and Candy go undercover to talk to the mediator. Chloe is frustrated and clearly doesn’t think that things can go back to the way they were before.
It seems that Lucifer’s plan wasn’t so ridiculous. He and Candy do go to see the mediator, but it’s Chloe disguised as his wife. Chloe says that they are supposed to have a partnership, but it’s clearly not working anymore. Lucifer says that he’s been through hell, but Chloe retorts that she was the one who almost died. He says that’s what he’s talking about. Lucifer asks if she has ever known him to lie, but Chloe just can’t be sure anymore. The games soon come to an end, and the mediator is no longer a suspect once he reveals how big of a groupie he is for the Heavy Woolies. He only wanted the band to have success and to hopefully be their manager someday.
Chloe and Lucifer continue to follow the trail until they get to the drummer, Doug. Doug killed Ash because Ash was going to go solo and leave them all behind. Doug gets the drop on Lucifer and wraps a wire around his neck. Lucifer tells Doug that Chloe doesn’t need him anymore, so he should just kill him. This disorients Doug enough for Chloe to get off a clean shot. Candy shows up at the crime scene, thankful that her husband is going to be okay. Candy talks to Chloe and says that Lucifer is all messed up because of her. Chloe never realized how much Lucifer went through. Candy also explains how much work means to Lucifer, and he’s always talking about her. Chloe actually seems glad that Lucifer has Candy.
Charlotte and Amenadiel are both frustrated with Lucifer. Charlotte is sure that Candy is all part of Lucifer’s master plan. Lucifer talks with Amenadiel and explains that he’s only trying to save Chloe from himself. She doesn’t know that his parents put her in his path, and he wants to save her from that part of him. Lucifer then goes to talk with Charlotte, and he tells her that he knows she must have some good intentions when it comes to him.
